The parking is part of the national botanical gardens precinct but separate. Large open space with plenty of trees and space to run around in. The water area is for the sightseeing only. I loved the labels on the trees giving a little info about them. Would like that to be more comprehensive. Plenty of Egyptian geese with a small Scattering of other bird life. I assume they are fed by people because they are following us all around. We did not feed them...

Questionable security with some high profile crime incidents taking place over the years in this vicinity. I would recommend doing some research first, look at the news especially from around 2015.

The area had been mowed and given a general clean up. A lovely place to have a small picnic lunch. Security people were discreet and friendly. A place to take overseas visitors as we did.

Its a nice place away from the hustle and bustle of town, I wasn't even aware that there was this little Dam that has a host of recreational sports that one can do, the place is well kept and there are security guards present which is great, they often host sporting events from some brief internet searching I did, all in all a very nice family day outing spot.

So we came here for a birthday party, we went to the rose gardens and really just chilled it's a spot that honestly is one of the best kept secrets in joburg, so when u come in through main entrance turn right go up for about 500 meters and u will see the area on your right, keep going up for different views. Only issue I found was that the fountains were all dry :( sad because it's so beautiful....
