Just renewed by drivers license in Richmond (I am from Durban) - 13 January 2021.Very efficiently run by courteous staff. It is still a slow process but you will be seated indoors out of the rain and heat, at a safe distance on comfortable chairs. It took 1 hour and 50 minutes from entry to departure. I cannot recommend this office more highly given that my past experiences have been Pinetown and Prospecton Home Affairs Departments which were diabolically awful. Richmond motor vehicle licensing deserves some gold stars!

My brothers booked their learner's license and were told to be there by 8am sharp. 8am they were there and got turned away and told to come back at 8:30, as everyone is in morning meetings. 8:30 comes and they got turned away once again as everyone was still in morning meetings. They were told not to worry they will definitely write their learners sometime today...in the interim we must just wait until they have finished their morning meeting, even though they told us to be there at 8am so they can write at 8:30... Finally my brothers were allowed in at 9:35. If you know you have morning meetings then book people in for their learners licenses AFTER the meeting instead of wasting 1hr 35mins of our time. Really disappointed with the lack of service and communication received from this department.
