If you are a lover of craft beer and find yourself on route 62 then do yourself a favour and stop at the Route 62 Brewing Company in Montagu. All their beers are brewed on site, and we decided to do a tasting before ordering a pint. Their beer range includes a Pale Ale, Irish Red Ale, English Ale and a Brown Ale - I enjoyed the English Ale the most, but the rest of the group preferred the Irish Red Ale. Unfortunately we arrived too late the Friday afternoon (after 15:00) so their kitchen was already closed, but their menu has a wide variety of waffles (savoury and sweet) that looked pretty interesting. They have a nice courtyard where we could sit and enjoy our beers, but they also have space inside for those cold days. Their passion for their beers really shows and I am glad we stopped there.

Went here for waffles with my friends for waffles. We sat outside, beautiful shade protecting us from the heat. The few times we have been there the manger has been kind to us, even going as far as showing us where the beer is made and telling us about each brew. (Most of the beer is flavored which might not be everyone’s preference) The savory waffle though having my doubts about them is my favorite kind of waffle in this place. The plain ice cream waffles have 4 big scopes of ice cream and are big. (The people we were with couldn’t finish their waffles, I would suggest that less ice cream is served in future.) We had a “crunch waffle” though being R25 more that the plain waffle this had no difference to it, other than a broken up crunchy chocolate at the top, which I was a bit upset by. Otherwise the staff are friendly, the owner is nice and welcoming and the beer is a success in my eyes.

My wife and I were driving through Montagu and decided to stop at this small and charming brewery. They offer both beer and cider, and each of these are quite drinkable. I personally recommend the ESB.
Drink beer and eat waffles in a cozy beer garden with friendly service too!
Truly a wonderful time spent at Route 62 Brewing Company. If i didnt notice the sign along Long Street i wouldve completely missed this gem. Awesome knowledgeable welcoming staff. Saying I felt right at home would be an understatement. Beautiful venue, cold delicious beer and the waffles are absolutely exquisite. A stop to be added to anyone's list if they find themselves passing through Montagu.
