I haven't had problems using Western Union in the past in the UK. However in South Africa I have problems, the problem isn't actually Western Union, on both occasions the local agent is Travelex. Travelex need to do some serious staff training with regard to customer service. They are extremely sow, rude, abrasive and it seems each branch has a different requirement for collection...be advised it's best to take your ID, passport, proof of address...all certified as I have been asked for that. Western Union it is more than a gentle suggestion that you change your agents in South Africa as dealing with Travelex is beyond frustrating and extremely time consuming, I have yet to collect any nominal amount (under R5000) in under 2.5 hours. Avoid using if possible

My first time experience with western union fordsburg was terrible. I even told my family in UK don't ever send money with them. And reverse the money that was sent. I thought the reference on my fone n my ID Card was enough to collect the money. No luck even with proof of residence. Not even an affidavit from the police station. There was a Kaylin Naidoo there not very helpful. Been going for 3days no luck.
Unfriendly service dished out with attitude. Not the type of experience I want especially dealing with money.
I was really hoping my experience would be different from those that had posted reviews on here already. Sadly I was wrong. I got there at 3:25 and they told me they were closed and would not be helping me, even though Google Maps says they close at 6. They have a sign that says they close at 3:30 but they still refused to help.
I would have been great if receiving money via international money transfers was not as strick as they are in SA... I was shocked to learn a visitor can not access western union services unless they have an SA ID or permit, things a visitor can not have. If they can look into it, I can assure them of continued support from both locals and visitors, helping the country generate the much needed FOREX.
We have been waiting for over 40 minutes meanwhile the sign says back in 20 minutes this is so unacceptable. We are on lunch break and can not wait for ever
Guys 1star because it was such a disappointment for me to go to this western this morning and to be treated like an animal, poor customer service no minimum respect for the customer... totally a no go for me sorry , I'm very disappointed trust me. If anybody is familiar with the brand manager I beg you bring this matter to his person.
Very disappointed at the service received at this branch. As per the website operating hours are from 9am - 13:30pm. I have been standing outside this branch since 12pm and being told that they are closing early. No reason whatsoever as to why their offices have to close.
