It's wonderful to see the South African government has taken some initiative and recognised that schools such as Tamarisk are needed. The teachers are very caring and sensitive to the children's needs and highly tuned to assisting autistic children with being able to do everyday tasks for themselves. Children attending this school range from low to high functioning and are put into classes according to their needs. Each child is still treated individually and it's a special place the kids can turn to because in their home dynamic it is sometimes a very different story where family or outside friends don't know how to deal with them and they are pushed aside or shouted at for something that is beyond their control. The school is fully wheelchair accessible and the classes are painted specific colours to calm the children's senses. The principal and deputy principal go out of their way to ensure these children are loved.

This school has the facilities but is very unorganized. The principal as well as the SGB have no understanding. The children do not come first and they are funding driven. They have no respect for parents or the children. I would not advise any parent take their child to this school. My child spent 9 hours in their transport and we stay 27 kms away.
