Good for kids
Beautiful and serene and a great escape from the city. Watch out for trail runners and keep your mask on for a super safe outdoor experience. The boardwalk over the river mouth is a bit high and those who are scared of heights may struggle a little. Also not really advised for kids.

The trails are beautiful and calming, the trees and views are also amazing.. We were lucky to even spot a few baby kudus as well as colourful birds. There is security for safety around the forest and sanitizer and mask as well as temperature check at the entrance.
Still one of the best places to go to in durban
Lovely short walk (about 2km) through the forest and over wooden bridges to get to the surf. Resident fish eagle, cormorants, grey heron and weavers were spotted. Also several red duiker seen along the trail. Ideal for a trail run.
Lovely walk ending at the beach. Reserve very well looked at. Great for a bit of fresh air and some light exercise.
Absolutely beautiful. Fantastic place to walk
In the bustling centre of Umhlanga, it is a welcomed tranquil nature outlet. Surrounded with beautiful trees, stunning birdlife and picturesque beaches, the forest hike is more needed than one would expect and worth the experience. Trails lead to the beach and lagoon and rumour has it, an unofficial nude beach as well so that route is not for a family walk. Perfect place and environment to let go and breathe. Highly recommended.
Perfect stroll just minutes away from Umhlanga centre. Safe, tidy, and cool on a hot day
