This restaurant is amazing! It's located inside the MAD Brewery. It's a beauty to behold. The decor is complimentary to the brewery. We were there on a Monday and almost had the restaurant to ourselves; however we were warned that it gets really busy during the week and reservations are highly recommended. They pride themselves on procuring their produce a certain radius from the city, so all is fresh: and that is the charm of Urbanologi. They serve tapas like meals so if you're a group you get to taste all their dishes which are tasty. We literally tried everyone were not disappointed. We finished the goat cheese platter which I once again highly recommend if you love cheese.

Very nice place, great upmarket feel. Service was great, Thabiso was very professional and efficient. Good selection of beers, ciders etc. Food was really good. The beer battered fish was epic! with the mushrooms in firm 2nd place. Dish sizes are a bit small, so order two. Decor is really well done, The place gets busy too. So always a good vibe and nice background music too. Definitely recommend it. They also brew their own beer their too. Did I mention the fish was good? :) Will be back at some point.

Located inside the Mad Giant brewery at 1 Fox Street, this tapas restaurant is a worthwhile visit for tourists and locals alike. The menu is somewhat seasonal, and caters for meat eaters and vegetarians alike. Each menu item is paired with a recommended house beer (some of which have been named/awarded the the best beer in Africa title). There is also a beer tasting option which allows you to try out 100ml of each, before picking your poison for the day. The kitchen is open to the restaurant, and you can see the delicious dishes being prepared. Since it is tapas, the plates are small, but I found the individual servings to be of a good size. Depending on your appetite, 2-4 dishes would make for a filling meal. The interior is a sight to behold, with its high ceilings, exposed brick walls, murals and installations. Light fittings and furniture reminds you of red, life-sized Lego /Meccano pieces. Textured wood surfaces, polished cast concrete, and the massive stainless steel tanks (for the brewery) completes the contemporary look and feel of the space. The staff is courteous, friendly and well informed. They're always able to assist you with menu options & details. It's best to make a booking in advance, since the venue is popular for events, and you may be turned away when arriving without a booking, or be disappointed by a rowdy bunch, celebrating in the shared space.

If you see reviews with the word "cool" & you really are in to "cool" restaurants & hipster, millenial Brooklyn vibes then this is a place for you. Their concept is great & important & most restaurants should do the same. Location is odd but very industrial. Again like Brooklyn. The food, tapas style, was tasty, not amazing nor bad. It was just ok. Staff was friendly & helpful yet waiters need lots to learn. Would I recommend it ? I guess if you want to go for a place to hang out & chill with your friends & family, this is it. I personally like more formal dinning with food that will leave a visual & palatable experience to remember. This place was forgotten as we got the check.

Urbanologi is a vibrant inner city eating experience where special little details surprise you on a gigantic scale. This eatery prides itself on locally sourced ingredients, witty waiters, and enormous vats of beer. It is, afterall, inside a brewery. Having opted to drive myself, I can't comment on the entire selection of beer, but their Super Session Cannabis Ale was pretty damn impressive. Having opted to drive myself, I can comment on the safe parking lot, and amazingly friendly car guard on duty... so, if you were wondering if parking your car in central Jozi in the middle of the night was prudent: It is! But damn, do I wish I ubered instead, just to drink the beer. Back to the food! Don't expect to order your own plate of food to wolf down like at your annual birthday excursion to Spur. Urbanologi is suited to a more tapas-style experience. Most of the plates are easily shared between four people, so get a selection of flavours a nibble away. It is delicious and fun in a strange Afro-Asian-pub-fusion sorta way. If it is on the ever-changing menu when you go, I can highly recommend the Beer Battered Fish (on a spectacular thick tartare) and the Sweetcorn Daltjies (with a spicy Vietnamese chilly sauce).

Cool urban space, exposed micro brewery, smaller tapas style dishes. Every dish tasty, although the sirloin kebab was pretty tough. Stand out dish was the aubergine and bone marrow..
