We were unlucky with really poor weather but De Rust is a great spot for the pups. Lots of little touches that make it special. Will come back one day in better weather so we can enjoy the dam and the braai area.

De Rust Cottage is st on a pear orchard. It is simple with all the amenities that you need for a peaceful weekend break. The emphasis is on peaceful. Even though the cottage is set about one hundred meters back from the main road to Villiersdorp, you dont hear the traffic. I had the grandchildren there and they had an amazing time. We went canoeing on the farm dam, while having a picnic on the well kept lawns under shady trees. A calmness pervaded the whole day and it was surreal. Definitely a place where you can recharge your batteries. A hidden gem that should be utilized by those who are in need of stress relief.

We stayed in December, had a wonderful time. Dogs loved the big Theewaterskloof Dam. In such a way that when we passed Villiersdorp over the weekend, we asked Jon-Jon permission to enter his property to the dam. He was kind enough to allow. Thanks Jon-Jon just show that you are a great host and walk the extra mile even though we we only passing by.

This is a long overdue review, possibly because our two stays here have been so wonderfully relaxing we’re still on farm time :) What a charming, wonderful place to restore your soul! The accommodation has everything you need (the bath is simply amazing - to come from showering in buckets for less than two minutes to being able to bath is out of this world) and there’s enough to do if you chose to not even venture out the farm gates, let alone explore the area. Our hosts were so warm, accomadating and just the right mixture of attentive and respectful of privacy.. truly a little peice of heaven, which we plan to return to many times in the future! I can’t recommed a stay there enough - you leave the city a frazzled monster, and come back feeling like amazingly human and back in touch with nature, your self and your friends. It’s a beautiful thing :)
