What a gem of a spot!!! Campsite set up with so much thought. From a great shower, covered area to prep, to 2 ply toilet paper!! They’ve really thought of everything. We also took a look at the tented camps which look awesome and are a far more hassle free option. We will definitely be back!!

Hi Alan, you are one of the most amazing people I’ve met, thanks for sharing your paradise with us and your visits with your scrambler with candle lightsaround our campsite every night to check and see if all is OK So to sum it up, we spent the Easter weekend at the Hoopoe private campsite, walked the whole farm, visit the two waterfalls, the view points, the Surprise Damwas a surprise. Your attention to “needs” of campers was a welcome surprise, we are hardcore “wild campers” but with your detail at the camp sites, it felt more like GLAMPING, For potential campers, no green grass and shady spots, is is Waterberg, rocks and small trees The private toilet, shower, “kitchen” braai and prep area under roof was like 5 star to us, the fact that there are not a lot of shade tree spots for our tent did not matter as we were exploring the farm by foot, there are some 4x4 tracks with one challenging short section call Van Zyl’s pass for the 4x4 lover We will certainly be back

We just had the most amazing weekend. Alan is such a great host - thank you Alan. Your farm is beautiful with such great views and small little adventures for our kids. We will definitely be back - this time with a 4x4 so we explore more of the farm!

The Waterberg Wilderness Reserve is beautiful. We stayed in the safari tents. The facilities were clean and well equipped. The owners were friendly and welcoming. They have 4 cute dogs that came to greet us everyday. The kitchen is sufficiently equipped. There is a bathroom inside of the tent and an outdoor shower which is fantastic as long as the weather isn't windy. We went 4x4ing in the Reserve, swam in the clear Surprise Dam and had a picnic by Sundowners view point. We saw plenty of wildlife including a family of giraffes. It is recommended for 4x4 drives. It was an amazing experience and we will definitely be returning.

What a magical piece of paradise. We got exactly what we were craving- a secluded campsite in remote bush, beautiful nature, great drives and amazing walks... and Alan is a fantastic host!

Lovely place for some peace of mind; loads to experience, quietness, water, wide range of tree species, birds and of cause... open skies with loads of possibilities I.e rain, hunters moon

What a gem of a place! Far away from the crowds... Great camp sites nice and far apart so you feel like you're the only people there. No "dangerous" animals so you can go on long walks around the reserve or the kids can swim in the dams. A proper bush chillout! 4X4 and good clearance recommended. Great host family are so hospitable and welcoming and passionate about sharing their farm. I highly recommend this place, especially if you love the bush and the tranquility and adventure...
