Hillcrest Game Estates is a 1 200 ha game farm, comprising 850 ha of breeding camps and a 350 ha hunting camp. John L G Firth is the owner, with Dr Ian Firth, Lindsay Geddie, Wolhuter de Kock and Pieter Botma as partners. The positive results over the past two years are a tribute to the regular visits and strategic guidance provided by Wolhuter de Kock. Pieter Botma, the General Manager of the Firth Group farming enterprise, provides the daily hands-on management. Game breeding began in 2014 after buying the best possible breeding stock from expert breeders in the game industry, with the helpful advice of Mr. Franco Joubert. The mission is therefore to breed game using the best genetics possible in order to provide fellow breeders with the most sought after progeny. We endeavour to achieve an economically sustainable game farm with healthy animals of the best genetic material in a socially and environmentally responsible manner. Therefore we are associated with various industry specialists such as Dr Cizelle Naudé (BSc. BVSc) of Bloemhof Dierekliniek, Dr Paul Lubout (DSc. Agric) of Wildlife Stud Services who is a prominent and specialist genetic advisor (WS2) and Pieter Nel (PriSc Nat – Wildserv). Good relations have built a winning team with a common purpose. We continue to be involved in and support our local game breeding sector.
