So. We really wanted to visit this store, one of the few places we have been since covid 19 started... When paying we asked the lady helping us 'would you mind putting on your mask?'. She refused, gave an attitude as to how dare we expect her follow covid 19 guidelines, even if it is only for the 5 minutes whilst helping us. I have lived in Gordon's Bay my entire life and never ever has anyone ever from any businesses spoken to us in such manner. I expect more from local business, especially when they are the ones who need the most support during these time. Will not be returning.

I've never seen so many books in 1 place. I'll need a weekend at least to go through everything. Some free books on offer as well. A good place for all genres of literature. Bring CASH, no card facility. Free parking too

CASH ONLY. NO PHONE NUMBER. NO EMAIL. You cannot contact them. They want you to visit in person. I was there a couple of weeks ago. They have an amazing selection of books. I could have spent a whole day in there. After being given general instructions as to which room and shelf to go check, I found exactly the one book that I was looking for and had struggled to find for months. I was in a great mood and so happy, unfortunately that did not last long as the lady working at the pay point was extremely rude. I did not know that they were cash only, and she had a very bad attitude as I dug around in my bag to put together the cash needed. There was no receipt, no sanitiser, no safety screen, and she was not wearing a mask. She practically chased me out. Despite their amazing selection, I am not sure I ever want to go back there. If it weren't for her, they would have received 5 stars. The Book Exchange in Somerset West is much smaller, but the lady working there is an angel and a superstar who went out of her way to assist me. I would much rather support them instead. I rarely ever leave reviews, but the behaviour at Bikini Beach Books was so atrocious I had to say something. As long as you have cash, don't have questions, and don't expect any friendliness, you will have a lovely time browsing through their massive collection of books. The prices are great, but I would rather go elsewhere.

Always exhilarating as you're always surprised by the hidden literacy gems to be discovered ! Many and varied! And the view from the shop stoep is second to none. All in all an awesome experience!

Although a landmark business with a lovely selection, my experience wasn't a good one. I came to donate books and was told to go and place it myself on the floor....I don't work here...you do. After relating this to a friend he asked if I got my credit to shop there. I was never offered one. This after I handed in near perfect books with a retail value of R1500. Staff needs a bit of managing.

My favorite bookstore!! Books are reasonably priced, almost in perfect condition (99% of mine), and you can just do your own thing. Perfect location as you can buy a book, go next door to the best coffee shop and overlook the beach. Easy to navigate what books are where, people are really nice, its just overall a great bookstore that I highly recommend to locals and tourists. The smell of coffee, books, and the ocean? I don't know a better combination.

Been coming here for almost 20 years. Yet I still haven't mastered walking out with just one book. It's just a magical place where you lose tread of time, and buy 6 books for less than a single new paperback at a retailer. It's a book lover heaven. Tip: It's cash only, and bring a sturdy bag for your purchases
